Thomas E. Shaughnessy

Age 88, of Pittsburgh, on November 17, 2020. Beloved husband of Marcella (Kravich) Shaughnessy for 61 years. Father of Thomas E. (Pamela) Shaughnessy III of CA., Marianne Shaughnessy, Patricia L. (Eric) Jerme of OH and James J. (Christine) Shaughnessy of MD. Brother to Josephine Jackson and the late William Shaughnessy and Mary Adele Coleman. Proud grandfather of Christopher and Timothy Jerme; Thomas and Ryan Shaughnessy.  Though he was a man of few words, he generously shared his life lessons and wry humor with his children, nieces and nephews. He had a deep pride in the accomplishments of his children, as well as his own skills in volleyball and later, pickleball.  Tom was best known for his avid devotion to turtles - having them as pets for most of his life.  He operated a private rescue and created elaborate habitats for his box turtles and large water turtles, caring for over a dozen in the years following his retirement.  Private visitation will be held Friday, November 20, 2020 at O’Brien Funeral Home with Mass of Christian burial Saturday, November 21, 2020 at 10:30am Christ Our Savior – St. Cyril of Alexandria Church.  Please contact the family for an invitation to our Zoom visitation on Friday.
