Sr. Margaret of St. Jean Baptiste, lsp. Kathleen Ellen was born was born July 30, 1940 as the 3rd of 6 daughters
to Margaret and William Logan in Cleveland OH.
She attended St Thomas Aquinas School, Holy Name High School Cleveland and graduated from Mercy High
School in Detroit. During High school she spent many hours and weekends as a volunteer at the Little Sisters original
home in Cleveland on Scovill Ave.
Sr. Margaret entered the Little Sisters in 1958 and served the community in their homes for the elderly and poor
for 61 years in MA, OH, MO, DE, IL, LA, and most recently in Pittsburgh PA. Her assignments included development
where Sr. Margaret visited churches and made rounds of markets “begging” to fulfill the needs of the. homes,
residents and community. She was an ambassador for the Little Sisters and opened many doors for the elderly poor
in the spirit of St, Jeanne Jugan their founder.
She managed the Kitchens in many homes, in charge of all aspect of kitchen service with a love for meal planning
and presentation. She was known for her baking skills and loved decorating cakes for resident’s birthday, Jubilee
celebrations and at Christmas made special baked gifts for their many benefactors.
She was beloved by her family, who looked forward to her ability to come back to Cleveland and well as annual
vacation visits to her Little Sister homes! These created special bonds with her nieces and nephews who grew up
visiting her in so many of her assignments.
Sr. Margaret passed into eternal life on Oct. 24, into the loving arms of our Lord who she loved and served
faithfully. As we celebrate the life of Sr. Margaret, we are grateful for her example that provided a valuable spirit of
“whatever you do for the least of my brothers, you do for me.”
Sr. Margaret was preceded in death by her parents Margaret and William Logan and her sister, Sr. Mary Ann
Logan, CSJ.
She is survived by her sisters: Sr. Aimee de Notre Dame, lsp,(Elizabeth Frances) Anges, France, Margaret
Therese (Terry) Bucher, Winterhaven FL, Martha Rose Chrosniak, CLE, Virginia Clare Vassar,(Ginny) Pomeroy WA
Nieces and nephews: David Carleton, Bernadette Bolognese, Karen Peterkoski, Amy Selesky, Brian Vassar,
Andrew Chrosniak, Patrick Chrosniak, Katie Chrosniak.
Great neices and nephews: Tyler & Kyle Carleton, Anthony & Dominic Bolognese, Mackenzie Aledia, Zachary & Samantha Peterkoski, Cailyn & Logan Selesky, Chloe Chrosniak, and Moses & Miriam Chrosniak.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated at the Little Sisters of the Poor, at 11 am on Friday Oct. 28th.
