In Loving Memory of Mary Jean Walko
It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Mary Jean (Todorowski) Walko, who left us peacefully on January 8, 2025, at the age of 65. A devoted Catholic, Mary Jean lived her life with unwavering faith and a heart full of love for her family, friends, and community.
Born on December 28, 1959, in Pittsburgh, PA, to parents Walter and Frances. A loving sister to Elaine, Donald, Daniel, Michael and Lisa. Preceded in death by Walter Jr., Judy, and David. Mary Jean was a beacon of light and kindness to all who knew her.
Mary Jean was a loving wife to Daniel Walko, a cherished mother to Jessica (Mike) Rimkus, Dan Jr (Anna) Walko, Matt (Lauren) Walko, Chris (Leann) Walko, and a loving grandmother to Madilyn, Jacob, Danielle, Joey, and Rosie. An Aunt and Godmother to many nieces and nephews. Seeing her grandchildren always brought a smile to her face, and her family was her pride and joy.
While she battled her illness, she was lovingly cared for by her devoted husband and four children, who provided her with incredible care and support. She loved to listen to “oldies” and Christmas music. She enjoyed hearing her brothers, sisters, and family reminisce and tell stories from their childhood, especially when they involved “the tank”, her nickname.
Her warmth, wisdom, fight, strength and gentle spirit will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Family will receive visitors Tuesday, 12PM-8PM at O’Brien’s Funeral Home, 3724 California Ave. Pittsburgh, PA 15212. A funeral Mass will be held in Mary Jean’s honor at St. Peters Catholic Church, Wednesday 10AM. Interment to follow in St. John the Baptist Ukrainian Catholic Church Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, family suggest donations to Little Sisters of the Poor, 1028 Benton Ave. Pittsburgh, PA 15212.
May she rest in eternal peace, embraced by the love of God.
