On Tuesday, very unexpectedly, Joseph King passed away while doing what he did best, helping others. Beloved son of the late John Sr. and Florence (Derby) King. Loving husband of Denise A. (Labuda) King. Brother of James (Jane) King, Sandy King, Patty (the late Richard) Castagna, Tootie (P.J.) Kirby, Peter King, Timothy (Toni) King, Matthew (Kim) King, David (Terri) King and the late John Jr, Michael (Rosie), Pepi, Danny (Janet) and Edward King. Survived also by many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews and his beloved boys JoJo and T. Rex.
Joe was a City of Pittsburgh Firefighter for 40 years. Joe proudly served in our United States Marine Corps and was a Vietnam Veteran. He was President of the Local 1 for 28 years and retired in 2014. Joe’s real passion was dedicated to anyone, anywhere who needed help. He was known as the “good neighbor,” he always took great care of his yard and had it in pristine condition. He enjoyed fishing and going to camp with his MDA kids. In his leisure time, he loved listening to his oldies music and if you knew Joe his favorite song was “My Way” by Frank Sinatra, which would not be a surprise to any, knowing Joe. One thing you could always count on Joe having on him wherever he went was a scubbage bag full of candy.
Family will receive visitors (Guests are asked to wear masks, practice social distancing, and limit their visiting time to allow everyone the opportunity to pay their respects) Saturday 6-8 PM and Sunday 2-4 PM & 6-8PM at O’Brien’s 3724 California at Cooper Aves., North Side. Interment will be private at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies.
