Joseph Protolipac went home to the Lord early on August 19 at home with his loving wife, Mary Ann Protolipac by his side.
Joseph was born in Etna, Pennsylvania on August 14, 1924 to his parents Joseph G. and Agatha (Grubic) Protolipac.
Joseph leaves behind his devoted wife of 37 years, Mary Ann (Flaherty) Protolipac. He is survived also by many nieces and nephews.
He served in World War II, trained as an electrician on the USS Oberrender. He received two bronze stars for the Philippine liberation and a ribbon for the Asiatic- Pacific campaign. Joseph also participated in the invasion of Okinawa and several air actions. Joe served under General MacArthur and Admiral Nimitz.
Joseph will be greatly missed by all those who loved him. He was a member of American Legion Post 597, Croatian Fraternal Union for 77 years.
Family will receive visitors Monday, 2-4PM & 6-8PM at O’Brien’s 3724 California at Cooper Aves., N.S. Funeral Mass Tuesday 10AM in Christ Our Savior Parish-St. Cyril of Alexandria Church. Interment to follow at Christ Our Redeemer Cemetery.
