Georgeann Held, 72, of Pittsburgh, PA passed away peacefully at home on October 30 2025.
She was born in Pittsburgh in 1953 to Jennie and Horace “Curly” Dering and was a graduate of Perry High School. Before retirement, she worked in various retail and banking roles during her career, enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and had a lifelong fondness for panda bears.
Georgeann was preceded in death by parents Horace “Curly” and Jennie Dering, sisters Rebecca Vargo and Lee Ann Eistentraut and is survived by her brother Thomas (Kimberly) Dering, longtime companion Dale Zubik, children Philip (Jorge) Held-Hernandez and Jennifer (Christian) Marshall, grandchildren Nicholas Reno, Taylor Reno, Ivy Marshall and Zachary Marshall as well as several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at O’Brien’s Funeral Home on Monday, November 3rd from 2-4 PM. In lieu of flowers, you can honor Georgeann’s life by donating to the World Wildlife Fund for panda conservation efforts or to the Gentiva Foundation in support of hospice care for others.
