Formerly of Squirrel Hill on Aug. 8, 2024, age 87, surrounded by her two children Douglas and Jason and in spirit by son Jonathan. Born to the late Daniel and Clementine (White) Soltis of Hazleton, she was the first woman in her family to go to college and a proud Penn State graduate. Deanna had a diverse work career including roles as a loving mother, an advertising copywriter with Gimbles and Hornes department stores, a teacher with a love of reading/writing and ended her career as a senior companion. She was fierce sports fan supporting her alma mater (GO PENN STATE!) along with the Steelers, Penguins and Pirates and enjoyed sharing her passion for the game with her family and friends. Deanna lived a full life residing over the years in NJ, MD, IL, and FL before returning to the Burgh to be near her sons. She enjoyed learning about other cultures when traveling to Europe and Asia. Deanna was preceded in death by her brother Danny of Emmaus, PA and ex-husbands Charles Adamson of Oakmont, PA and Victor Wood of Indian Rocks Beach, FL. In addition to her two sons, she is survived by her two grandsons Colin and Alexander and granddaughter Kayla as well as numerous Soltis, Matera, and Perkins cousins in FL, VA, CT and NY. Deanna will be sorely missed and remembered as a strong woman who loved her family and friends. Those that knew her well noted she was outspoken and stayed true to her convictions. We will always carry Deanna’s memory in our hearts. The family is grateful to the staff at UPMC Shadyside hospital for their wonderful and compassionate care of Deanna. A celebration of life and remembrance event will be held for friends at Forward Shady Apartments and memorial service and reception for family will be conducted during the Fall 2024. Interment will be private at the Soltis family plot at the Hazleton, PA cemetery. For more details, please contact Douglas at 302-598-3274. Funeral arrangements by O’Brien’s of Pittsburgh.
