Cornelius J. Cahill III

Cornelius J. (C.J.) Cahill, III, passed peacefully at home on Tuesday, March 28, 2023 at the age of 81.  Son of the late Cornelius J. Cahill, Jr. (Buzz) and Wilma Cahill; beloved father of Christine L. Cahill of Las Vegas, NV and Dana L. Young; loving grandfather of Juliana and Fiona Young; brother of Cathy McLaughlin (Keith) of Florida.

After graduating from North Catholic high school in 1959, he honorably served in the Coast Guard.  C.J. was the second generation owner of Cahill Hardware in the North Side.  He was known and appreciated for his helpful advice on any project or repair a customer was completing. He enjoyed woodworking and made beautiful furniture.  He liked to travel to warm sunny places and foreign countries.  He also enjoyed boating and spending time at the casino. 

After closing his business in 1999, he moved to Cape Coral Florida for many years before eventually moving back to Pittsburgh.

Family will receive visitors Friday, March 31stfrom 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. at O’Brien’s Funeral home, 3724 California at Cooper Avenues, North Side where there will be a blessing service at 1:00 p.m. Interment to follow at Christ Our Redeemer Northside Cemetery. Please consider a donation to Little Sisters of the Poor, 1028 Benton Avenue, Pittsburgh, PA 15212.
