Sr. Gemma de la Passion, lsp (Catherine Anne Garrity) died at home in the Little Sisters of the Poor in Pittsburgh, PA on October 11, 2021, at the age of 88. Sr. Gemma was born on December 28, 1932, in Pittsburgh, PA to the late Thomas and Helen Garrity. She joined the Little Sisters in 1955 and spent her life devoted to the service of our Lord and the care of others. In 2011, she received the Manifesting of the Kingdom Award.
Sr. Gemma is survived by her sisters Ruth Mangan, and Gemma Lundberg (Lee); her brother-in-law Frank Kubus; five nephews (Frank Kubus, Tom Kubus, James Kubus, Larry Mangan and Paul Mangan); twelve grand nieces and nephews and one great grandniece. She is preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Helen Garrity; her sisters, Helen Mae Garrity, Honora Sturak, and Mary Kubus, all of Pittsburgh, PA.
Wake and viewing Friday, October 15, 2021, at the Little Sisters of the Poor,1028 Benton Avenue, Pittsburgh, PA 15212 in the Gloria Chapel from 2 to 6 pm with the Rosary and Evening Prayer beginning at 4:30 pm. Masks are required.
Saturday, October 16, 2021, there will be a viewing from 9 to 10 a.m. and the closing of the Casket at 10:20 followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. Masks are required.
