Arthur Thurau Obituary

Arthur (Art) V. Thurau, 68, of Oil City, Pennsylvania, passed away on February 17, 2026. He was born on December 4, 1957, to Arthur F. and Genevieve (Pedensky) Thurau.

He is survived by his daughter, Racquel Gray, and son, Todd Thurau, along with his cherished grandchildren, Hunter, Jacqui, Ellie and Evan and several cousins.

A devoted bowler and lifelong outdoorsman who found joy in both the rhythm of the lanes and the quiet beauty of nature and an unshakable love for sports. Whether it was cheering from the stands, watching the big game at home, or debating stats and rivalries, sports were never just a pastime—they were a way of life.

A dedicated businessman with a sharp eye and an unmatched talent for finding a good deal. He approached both work and life with determination, insight, and a knack for turning opportunity
into success. Whether negotiating a contract, spotting a bargain, or sharing advice with others, he took pride in being resourceful.

Outside the office, Art was a force of nature. If there was laughter, he had likely started it. His stories grew better with every telling, and his jokes landed with perfect timing.

Perhaps one of his most memorable traits was his habit of giving everyone a nickname. No one escaped it—friends, family, coworkers, even the occasional stranger. The names stuck, often for life.

He leaves behind a legacy of hard work and joy. Though our hearts are heavy, we find comfort in the countless stories, the inside jokes, and yes, the nicknames that will live on in his honor.

A private burial will take place at Calvary Cemetery, Oil City.
